The Hon. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola alongside the Emir of Keffi, Dr Shehu Usman-Yanusa the 3rd earlier in the week commissioned a 1x60MVA, 132/33KV power transformer procured and installed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at the Keffi Transmission Substation.
While welcoming the minister to the station for the commissioning, the MD/CEO of TCN, Usman Gur Muhammed who noted that it was part of TCN’s effort to reinforce the substation explained that the project is a World Bank supported one under the Nigerian Electricity and Gas Improvement Project (NEGIP).
According to him, the achievement is stems from the Transmission, Rehabilitation and Expansion Programme which the minister earlier supported with a view to stabilising, expanding and providing the needed flexibility to the distribution companies (DisCos) for them to effectively supply their customers.
“Hon. Minister, as part of the strategy of TREP, NEGIP which was implemented for 8 years had 50% disbursement rate as at February 2017. The disbursement rate has increased to 80% between February to November 2017 (30% in less than a year).
This substation reinforcement and many others that you would commission between this month and March 2018 are part of the success of our new strategy in project implementation that significantly empowered the regional offices,’ Muhammed said.
